Does ZoogVPN work with Netflix? We recorded the answer
Netflix does not block VPNs by refusing to connect — it lets you in and then shows a proxy error instead of the film. So the only test that counts is a stream that actually plays, and keeps playing. We connected to ZoogVPN's San Francisco server on IKEv2 and recorded exactly that, then repeated the exercise on Prime Video without changing anything.
Netflix US, playing
Thirty-one seconds of the US catalogue: browsing, selecting, and playback starting. What is not in the recording is the thing worth noticing — no "you seem to be using an unblocker or proxy" page at any point.
The screenshot is the stronger piece of evidence, because of one number in it: the playhead reads 22:25. Netflix's detection is not only applied at the moment you press play; a flagged connection typically gets interrupted partway through. Twenty-two minutes in, on the same exit IP shown in the client window, it was still running.
Prime Video, same connection
We did not switch servers or protocols between the two tests — same San Francisco exit, same IKEv2 connection, same client session. Prime Video loaded and played at 5:35 elapsed. Two platforms off one configuration is a more useful result than two platforms off two hand-tuned configurations.
Which server to use
San Francisco is the exit that worked here, on IKEv2. The ZoogVPN client also carries a dedicated Streaming tab in its location list, and the evidence from this session is consistent with that list being maintained rather than decorative — but we tested one US location, so treat San Francisco as a known-good starting point, not as the only one that works.
The honest limits of this test
- US library only. We have no evidence for Netflix UK, DE, JP or any other region.
- Disney+, HBO Max and Hulu were not tested. Nothing on this page should be read as covering them.
- Quality was not instrumented. The stream played without visible buffering; we did not measure bitrate, so we are not claiming 4K.
- One session, 21 September 2026. Streaming detection is an arms race and this is a snapshot of one day.
